One of Philadelphia's most affluent and historic neighborhoods, Chestnut Hill is a highly desirable place to live. Locals lucky enough to call Chestnut Hill home are deeply proud of their neighborhood, which is home to beautiful greenery and quaint commercial streets. Even though it's easy to hop into downtown Philadelphia from Chestnut Hill, this idyllic neighborhood feels like its own unique village, brimming with small town charm and a laid-back atmosphere. Since I had heard so many great things about Chestnut Hill over the years, I decided to stay in the neighborhood on my recent trip to Philadelphia. To book my hotel in Chestnut Hill Philadelphia, I simply pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone. Within a few minutes, I had booked a room at a lovely hotel in central Chestnut Hill and was mere hours away from experiencing the beauty and charm of this historic neighborhood for myself.

The Historic District

The Chestnut Hill Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and it's one of the most charming, well-maintained districts in all of Philadelphia. Many of Chestnut Hill's most notable historic buildings were constructed in the 1800s and early 1900s, so strolling through the neighborhood is like walking through an extensive architecture exhibit. When you're in Chestnut Hill, you'll find impressive architecture and rich history around every corner, which is one of the many reasons why this neighborhood has become my favorite in Philadelphia.

The Gardens

Chestnut Hill is distinctly known as the "Garden District," and once you spend some time in this neighborhood, it's easy to see why it garnered the moniker. Chestnut Hill is full of lush gardens and beautiful green landscapes and there is no shortage of public parks or gardens to wander through in this coveted neighborhood. Not only do the neighborhoods in Chestnut Hill boast manicured lawns and colorful gardens, but the area is also home to stunning public gardens like the Morris Arboretum.

Germantown

There's a unique charm and beauty in Chestnut Hill that you won't find anywhere else in Philadelphia. Its main commercial centers, for instance, look as if they belong in a painting, complete with white picket fences and blooming flowers in window boxes. Some of Chestnut Hill's best shopping and dining can be found on Germantown Avenue, as well as Bethlehem Pike. As I strolled down these quaint streets, I passed old-fashioned candy stores, a crowded farmers' market and a number of antique shops. Walking through Chestnut Hill really does give you the sense that you've taken a trip back in time.
