Can I choose my room type?

Sometimes! In order to bring you the best last-minute rates possible, at some hotels your room type will be assigned at check-in. If advance room type selection is available for your hotel, you’ll see the option to make your choice (1 bed or 2 beds) by tapping “Room type” before booking.

And rest assured: every room, no matter the type, will fit at least two adults (some hotels may charge an additional fee for more than two people).

Can I book for more than one night?

Yes! Depending on availability, you can book stays up to 14 nights. You'll see the date range available when you're choosing your check-in and check-out dates.

How far in advance can I book a room?

You can book stays up to 100 days in advance of your check-in date.

How late can I book a room?

You can book a room until 2am during the first night of your stay (local time, based on the hotel’s location) - and we hope you will!

Can I book multiple rooms at a time?

Yes! You can lock down up to 4 rooms in a single booking. Just open the customized search menu located on the top of the search results screen and select the number of rooms you’d like to book.

Can I add a guest’s name to my booking?

You sure can. Before you confirm a booking, tap “Guest Names” and you'll be able to add the name there. You can also add Guest Names to your account at any time so they can be easily added to your bookings in the future.

Can I make requests such as early check in, or request a specific room or amenities?

Please reach out to the hotel directly for any requests. These will be at the hotel’s discretion, based on availability, and may be subject to additional charges.

Can I expense my HotelTonight business travel using Concur?

You can! You'll first need to connect your HotelTonight and Concur accounts by visiting the Concur App Center. Once they’re connected, you'll be given the option to send your booking receipts to Concur (you can toggle this setting on or off with each booking). If you need to disconnect your Concur account, just visit your account details page in the HotelTonight app. For help, contact Concur or HotelTonight customer support.

Can I get a copy of my receipt?

Yep! Go to the Bookings tab, select your booking, tap “Receipt” and you'll see the option to send it to yourself. We don't offer VAT or .pdf receipts, but you can send receipts to Concur (as long as you have a Concur account and it’s linked to your HotelTonight account through the Concur App Center).

If something comes up or I mistakenly book a room, can I cancel and get a refund?

Probably not. Most of the rooms on HotelTonight are offered on a non-refundable, non-cancellable, non-transferable, and non-modifiable basis. That is part of how we can secure great deals from these hotels. Unless you see different terms during checkout, all refunds, cancellations, transfers and modifications are at the discretion of the hotel.


Do a hotel's rates fluctuate throughout the day?

Rates provided by the hotel can fluctuate – so if you see something you like, book it before it's gone!

Where does your comparison rate come from?

Our comparison rate (the one you see crossed out below HT’s rate) is the highest rate offered by that hotel on HT over the last 30 days for the same date(s) as your search.

What are these taxes and fees?

To paraphrase Ben Franklin: in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except taxes and HotelTonight’s killer room deals. Since we’re all about saving you the Benjamins, we’ll let you know any taxes and fees before you complete your booking. This can include fees that we charge so we can continue to provide you with a most-excellent service, as well as occupancy or other taxes charged by the hotel or that we owe (we gotta pay our taxes, too). Taxes and fees vary based on the hotel’s location. For all the nitty gritty details, check out our Terms of Service.

What’s the HT Price Guarantee?

We work ‘round the clock to make sure you get the best rates on HotelTonight. If you do find a lower price elsewhere (d’oh!) – and it meets all the conditions for our Price Guarantee – we’ll top up your account with HT credits equal to the difference between what you paid on HotelTonight and the lower price. We’re good like that.

What does it mean when I see a hotel marked “Deal”?

When you see a rate marked with a “DEAL” badge, it means we’re featuring a special offer for that hotel. These rates are even lower than the regular HT rate for your selected hotel and date(s), and may not be available to all users or in all locations – so if you see one, we suggest snapping it up.

What’s this “Daily Drop” deal?

The Daily Drop is a personalized, daily deal offering a deep discount off the regular HT room rate for your selected hotel and date(s) at the time you “unlock” the deal. Once unlocked, you’ve got 15 minutes to book it until poof, it’s gone. If you want in, jump on it.

Daily Drop deals are only offered for certain destinations and search parameters. The deals featured are based on availability when and where you’re searching, and what kind of hotels you like (Hip, Luxe, Solid, etc.). The more you unlock, the better we’ll get at matching you to your perfect deal. Extra incentive to book that trip you’ve been thinking about!

What if my time runs out?

Once 15 minutes are up, the deal is gone (sometimes sooner if someone beats you to it). So if you like the hotel and deal you unlock, we recommend snapping it up ASAP. But if you miss out, don’t fret. We’ve got lots of other deals, every day (it’s kind of our thing).

What is HT Perks?

HT Perks is a way to reward and give back to our guests (that’s you!). It’s simple: the more you use HotelTonight, the better it gets. As you book, you unlock levels that give you access to exclusive extra discounts that you can either use immediately or save for a later booking. (Yep, we found a way to make our deals *even* better.) You also unlock other sweet perks as you level up. Unlike other loyalty programs, there are no blackout dates and you never lose your status. HT Perks discounts are available only from participating hotels.

How do you calculate my HT Perk level?

Your HT Perks Level is based on your total lifetime spend on HotelTonight since creating your HotelTonight account. Anything you’ve been charged for (and not refunded or otherwise credited back to you) will count towards your HT Perks Level progression (excluding credits and coupons you’ve used).

Level 1: Everyone starts here

Level 2: Once you’ve spent $250

Level 3: Once you’ve spent $1,000

Levels 4 and up: Level up with every additional $1,000 you spend

What do I get in each level?

As you level up, you get all the good stuff from the previous level, plus even more sweet benefits:

Level 1: Based on your location, get access to extra-discounted rates off the already-low HotelTonight room rate. Save an extra 5% off the already-low HotelTonight room rate when you book on our app.

Level 2: Benefit from your 5% discount across all of our platforms.

Level 3 and 4: Unlock special HT Perks discounts off the regular nightly rate for select hotels.

Levels 5 and up: Each time you level up, get a $30 credit to use on a future booking – plus, unlock an extra discount off our regular nightly rates starting at Level 8.

HT Perks discounts are available only from participating hotels.

Where do I see HT Perks deals?

Participating hotels will be shown with the PERKS DEAL badge (it’s blue and animated; you can’t miss it!) when you’re looking at a list of hotels matching your search criteria.

My friend is seeing HT Perks Deals. I’m not. What’s up?

You’ll start seeing HT Perks Deals that are available for your search criteria once you’re a Perks Level 2 or higher. Because deals vary by HT Perks Level, if you and your friend are at different levels and/or have different search criteria, you can expect to see different deals.

Why is my friend seeing a different rate than I am for the same night(s)?

If the hotel is offering an HT Perks deal, you may be seeing different rates based on your respective HT Perks Levels. One of you may also be seeing another deal or discount offered by the hotel, like a special rate offered to guests booking from your location or a personalized deal based on your past bookings.

How do I save my discount for later?

Every time you see a hotel that has a DEALS or PERKS DEAL badge, you get a special discount that you can choose to use on that booking, or put toward a future booking. If you decide to put your discount toward a future booking, your “Save for Later Credit” will expire after 12 months from the time you choose to defer the discount.

How can I redeem promo codes?

Promo codes make our already awesome deals even awesomer. Just tap “Promo code” at check-out and enter yours!

You can also save a promo code to use later: just go to your account profile, tap “Redeem” next to “Promo Code,” and enter your code. When you’re ready, simply apply the promo code to an eligible booking and get ready to save.

Note: While we dig your enthusiasm for deals, you can only redeem a code once. And promotions cannot be combined (sorry).

I'm trying to redeem a promo code and am receiving an error. What's up?

You'll see an error message if:

  • The promo code has expired or the booking doesn’t qualify under the terms of the specific promotion (which may include time, location, or minimum spend restrictions).
  • The maximum number of people have claimed it.
  • You've already redeemed it.
  • You've inputted it incorrectly.
  • You're trying to redeem a code for first-time customers, but you've already booked with us using the same account, device, or payment method (sorry, no double-dipping!)

Double-check the code and, if you still think it should go through, get in touch with our customer support team.

How do I invite friends?

It's simple: share your invite code with your friends, relatives, frenemies, etc. You can get and share your code by tapping “Invite” or “Invite a Friend” on your device. If you’re an HT Perks Level 1 or 2, you’re eligible for our Give $25/Get $25 referral program. If you’re an HT Perks Level 3 or higher, you’re eligible for our Give $50/Get $50 referral program. The person you invited must use your referral code and spend a minimum amount on a qualifying booking, excluding taxes & fees.

What does “Invites Accepted” mean on the “Invite a Friend” page?

Once you’ve sent out invites to friends, “Invites Accepted” shows you the number of people who have received your invite, signed up for HT, and entered your referral code. Depending on your Perks Level, you'll get $25 or up to $50 to put toward your next booking once they've made their qualifying booking(s). We suggest reaching out to those who haven’t booked yet and giving them a nudge to try HT!

What does “Friends Who’ve Booked” mean on the “Invite a Friend” page?

“Friends Who’ve Booked” shows you the number of friends who have received your invite, signed up for HT, entered your code, and made a qualifying booking(s). You can score a referral reward for inviting friends, so keep on doin’ what you’re doin’ and invite more of those future HT bookers!

I got an invite to HT. Are there rules for how I can use my referral code?

Yep. If you got a $25 referral code from your friend, it can only be applied towards your first booking and that booking must have a minimum value (excluding taxes & fees). If you got a referral code for up to $50, it can only be applied to future bookings after you complete your first booking at full price.

If I have multiple credits, in what order are they used?

When you make a booking with credits, we’ll always use the credits that are expiring first.

Why can't I use coupons or credits for some bookings?

Depending on the terms of your promotional offer, your coupons or credits may only be eligible for use on certain bookings (for example, bookings above a certain minimum price). Check out our Promotional and Loyalty Program Terms for more info on different types of coupons and credits.

Do my credits expire?

Like that mustard that's been in your fridge since 2009, credits do indeed have an expiration date. To see when your credits expire, just tap “Credits” in the Settings menu. You can also learn more by reading our Promotional and Loyalty Program Terms.

Where did my credits go?

All credits expire, but if yours haven’t and they seem to be MIA, there’s a chance you may have created two accounts (for example, if you created an account via the app but then began logging in using Facebook or Apple, and the two accounts’ email addresses are different). Try signing in with your original login info, and if you're still missing credits, please get in touch with our customer support team.


What's on my profile?

Other users can view your profile by tapping on any reviews or photos you’ve submitted. Your public HotelTonight profile shows your first name and last initial, any photos you've shared, your HT Perks level, and how long you've been an HT user. It also shows how many nights, cities, and countries you’ve visited through HotelTonight. Only you and HT can see your account settings and booking details.

How do I edit my user info?

On your iPhone or iPad, tap the person icon to access your Account and then tap the field you want to edit - like name or email On an Android device, tap your name in the drawer icon, tap it again on the Settings page and you'll be able to edit your name and email right there. Make sure to double-check the email address so your booking receipts don't get lost in the great online abyss.

How do I change my payment info?

On your iPhone or iPad, just tap the person icon to access your Account and then tap “Payment.” On your Android device, tap your name in the drawer icon, then tap “Payment methods.”

Is my credit card information secure?

We're PCI compliant, which means we've been certified for maintaining a secure environment. Every credit card payment on HotelTonight is processed through a third-party, fully-encrypted server.

If I gave HotelTonight my credit card directly, why is a credit card required at check-in?

When you book a hotel on HT, your payment is processed through a third-party payments processor. HotelTonight doesn’t store or process your credit card number, and we don’t provide it to your hotel. The hotel needs a credit card on file for incidentals, like late-night minibar raids (no judgment). The amount of the temporary hold placed by the hotel on your credit card varies and is typically removed within 5-7 business days. It should appear as “pending” when listed among your card's transactions. Note that guests who provide a debit card at check-in may find a temporary charge on their account rather than a hold. This will be refunded by the hotel, usually within 5-7 business days, assuming there are no legitimate incidental fees but please check with the hotel to confirm specifics. Also note that some hotels do not accept debit cards.

How do I unsubscribe from your emails?

If you would not like to receive our electronic missives filled with fabulous deals that could save you money on amazingly hip hotel rooms in the coolest cities in the world, just follow the link that says “Manage My Preferences” at the bottom of our emails. We’ll miss you.

I forgot my account name or password, how do I regain access?

It happens to the best of us! To regain access to your account, just enter the email address for your account during sign in and we’ll send you a link you can use.

Not receiving the email? Check that you’re using the email address that’s connected to your account and look for typos. Look for our booking receipts in your inbox to confirm the address; we send these to the email address associated with your account.


Can I review the hotel I booked in the app?

We'd love it if you did! To leave a review, open the app after you check out, or go to your booking history once your stay ends. You'll see a button there to "Rate Your Stay." You can give the hotel a thumbs up or down (we hope it's up!), and leave any feedback you've got.

Can I share pics of a hotel?

In the immortal words of a certain purple dinosaur, sharing is caring. So, yes, please share your photos! You can share pics of a hotel you're staying at, those you've stayed at in the past or even just hotels you're walking by and feel compelled to snap. Make sure you follow the user content policy in our Terms of Service. To share, go to the hotel's profile or your booking (if you're staying there). You'll see a button to “Share Your Photos.” Upload away!

I'm not seeing my reviews and/or photos. What’s the deal?

If you’re not seeing your review or photo(s), it’s because we’re reviewing it (heh) to make sure it’s on the up-and-up under our user content policy.

What do I do if I see inappropriate content in the app?

If I can book a hotel in advance, why are you guys called HotelTonight?

We started with same-day booking, expanded to allow you to book stays up to 100 days in advance to allow even more people to experience the joy that is booking with HotelTonight. We're all about living in the moment, and every night is tonight at some point (and yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, you get the gist...)

Why would/should I use this?

We think it's the best booking experience out there, period. We save you time, we save you money and we make booking hotels fun again. Fire up the app to check out our amazing rates, great hotels and seamless booking.

When should I book – in advance or day of?

We’ve seen time and time again that rates can drop at the last minute, as the rooms may otherwise go unsold. But we work hard to ensure the rates you see on HotelTonight are the very best price you can get for that hotel at that moment, which we back up with our Price Guarantee. The hotels we feature on the app are always changing, so if you see something you like and want to lock it down, we say go for it. If you're feeling extra flexible and want to wait 'til same-day to book, you do you.
