HotelTonight – Kenosha Hotels
I've been a salesperson for years, and that means that I'm used to traveling around in a car. My territory has continued to grow along with my experience, so these days I drive all over the Midwest. One of my favorite states to drive through is Wisconsin. That's because it offers a bit of something for everyone who sees it. If you want to enjoy rolling farm hills, you'll find them there. If urban cities are your thing, you'll find them in America's Dairyland as well. Exploring Wisconsin has become a bit of a passion of mine, so one day when I was driving from Chicago to Milwaukee and I encountered car trouble, I wasn't even that upset. I figured I'd have a day to get to know someplace new. My car wound up in a shop in Kenosha, so that would be my destination for the night. I hadn't seen much of it before, so I was excited. I was also unconcerned about finding lodging, as I travel with HotelTonight. I'd book a Kenosha hotel room as soon as I was ready to get some sleep that night.
The Waterfront
One of the things that I didn't really think about before I got to Kenosha was that it, like Milwaukee and Chicago, sits on the shores of Lake Michigan. Lake Michigan is one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the world in my experience. It makes up for its lack of warmth with its scenery. That scenery was stunning in Kenosha as well, and marinas, parks and businesses are right there on the shoreline for people from all different walks of life to enjoy. It was a crisp, cool day with a nice breeze coming off the water, so I walked around and took it all in.
The Electric Streetcar
I'm normally the last person to engage in activities that anyone would think of as 'touristy' when I'm somewhere new, but I heard about the old electric streetcar in Kenosha and how it had been restored, and I had to give it a try. Mine was a beautiful old bus-like vehicle that, while connected to a cable above that gave it power, drove us along more of the waterfront, through downtown, past at least one historic district and basically all over Kenosha. It was a bit of a blast from the past and it gave me a sense of the city.
The Dining
After all that touring around, I was ready to eat. I wanted a nice, big, juicy hamburger for some reason, and a lady on the streetcar told me about a local place that has earned a loyal following. I decided to give it a try, and I could see why it was doing so well. The burgers in this wood-themed tavern came wrapped in newspaper, and the deep-fried cheese curds were a taste of Wisconsin. Coupled with a nice beer, it was a tremendous meal.
