HotelTonight – Downtown Buffalo Hotels

There's no doubt in any Buffalo local's mind that the epicenter for excitement and entertainment in their city is downtown. As the oldest neighborhood in Buffalo, downtown is rich in history and beautiful old architecture, but it's also home to some of the trendiest, coolest spots in the city. Since I love to be in the heart of the action whenever I travel, I decided to book a hotel in downtown Buffalo during my recent trip to this New York metropolis. To find the perfect hotel in downtown Buffalo, I simply pulled up the HotelTonight website on my computer and within minutes, I had found a great hotel in the heart of downtown, which proved to be the perfect home base for exploring this unique city.

The Theater District

Downtown Buffalo is where locals go for live entertainment, which is no surprise given that downtown is home to the city's Theater District. Located on Main Street, the Theater District revolves around the historic Shea's Buffalo Theatre, which was once an old silent movie palace. Today, Shea's is a performing arts venue, and nearby there are several other theaters, restaurants, shops and music venues. Naturally, the Theater District is a hotspot for locals once the sun goes down, so I made sure to visit the Theater District several times during my stay in Buffalo.

Ellicott Street

Ellicott Street has undergone a major renaissance in recent years, which is why it's now one of the favorite areas for great dining and shopping among locals. This street is home to a host of new breweries, distilleries and eateries, and the energy in the area is infectious. I spent a good part of my Saturday on Ellicott Street, exploring the new establishments and mingling with locals. After just a few hours in the area, I understood just why has become such a popular hangout spot for Buffalo's residents.

Canalside

Located on the waterfront, Canalside is one of the most beloved districts in Buffalo. Not only does it offer picturesque views, but it also provides a number of great activities, such as boating and kayaking. Since I was lucky enough to visit Buffalo during the summer, I took full advantage of the great weather and the beautiful waterfront by renting a stand-up paddle board and heading out on the canals. While the waterfront is definitely the highlight of Buffalo during the summer months, locals also told me it's a popular spot during winter, when Canalside offers ice skating and beautiful winter scenery.

HotelTonight – Hotel in Downtown Buffalo

While Buffalo certainly doesn't receive nearly as much attention as New York City, this city's downtown still has plenty of excitement to offer. I stayed in Buffalo for three days, and I still feel like I didn't get to see or do all that I wanted to. I would definitely stay in this vibrant neighborhood again, and if I do, I'll be sure to book my downtown Buffalo hotel through HotelTonight. Booking last-minute travel has never been easier now that I always have HotelTonight at my fingertips.
