HotelTonight – North Shore Pittsburgh Hotels in Minutes

If you're looking for a good time in Pittsburgh, you'll find it in the North Shore. I recently booked a spur-of-the-moment getaway to Pittsburgh, and I decided to stay in a neighborhood that locals love, since I always try to experience a city like a local rather than a tourist when I travel. After a bit of research and a lot of suggestions from Pittsburgh locals, I decided to book a hotel in the North Shore neighborhood of Pittsburgh, because there's always something happening in this booming community. I opened my HotelTonight app on my phone, and within a few minutes I had booked a great hotel in the heart of the North Shore, and I was ready to kick off my Pittsburgh trip with a bang.

Sports

When Pittsburgh locals think of the North Shore, they think of one thing: sports. This neighborhood is home to two major stadiums, PNC Park and Heinz Field. Whether you love baseball or football, North Shore will make the sports fan in you giddy with excitement. I was lucky enough to be in Pittsburgh during football season, so I didn't waste any time grabbing a ticket to a Steelers' game. I'm not even a fan of the Steelers, but hey, I did say I like to experience cities like a local, right?

The Arts

While the sports scene may take center stage in the North Shore, the neighborhood is also known for its arts scene. From theater to museums, there's plenty of art and entertainment to keep you busy in the North Shore. During my brief stay in the area, I explored the Andy Warhol Museum and checked out the Pittsburgh Banjo Club. Other notable venues and attractions in the neighborhood include the New Hazlett Theater, the Mattress Factory, Randyland and the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh.

The Great Outdoors

Whenever I travel, I like to get a feel for how locals enjoy recreation, which is why I was so happy to discover all of the spacious parks and trails in the North Shore of Pittsburgh. I spent time exploring the 287-acre Riverview Park, where you can find hiking trials and a beautiful observatory, as well as the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, which is popular among locals for running and biking. And, of course, if the weather is nice and you feel like heading out on the water, you can always rent a kayak and paddle up the Allegheny River.

HotelTonight – Last-Minute Hotels in North Shore Pittsburgh

Even though I was only in the North Shore for a few days, I felt like I got a great sense of the neighborhood's vibe and culture. The North Shore definitely won me over, and I could understand why locals love it so much. If I were a Pittsburgh local, I too would want to live in the North Shore. I don't live in Pittsburgh, though, so I'll just have to settle for staying in the area whenever I return to the city. When I do make it back to Pittsburgh, I'll be sure to book my hotel through HotelTonight, which makes it easy for me to plan fun trips at a moment's notice.
