HotelTonight – Film Row Oklahoma City Hotels

Many of Oklahoma City's neighborhoods boast rich, fascinating histories, but for movie buffs, there's no better neighborhood to visit than Film Row. Beginning in the early 1900s, Film Row became a hot spot for film exchange distribution offices, and every major film studio set up shop in Oklahoma City. During the Golden Age of Hollywood, Oklahoma City's Film Row was home to film studios like Paramount Pictures, MGM and Warner Bros., and the district's cinematic legacy lives on to this day. After falling into decline for decades, Film Row experienced a revival, and now it's one of Oklahoma City's hottest up-and-coming neighborhoods. So if you love the arts--specifically the cinematic arts--you won't want to miss the chance to explore Film Row while in Oklahoma City. Since I'm a bit of a cinephile myself, I decided to stay near Film Row during my recent trip to Oklahoma City. To book my hotel in Film Row, I simply opened the HotelTonight app on my phone, conducted a quick search, and within minutes I had a great hotel room waiting for me near this vibrant, historic film district.

The Cinema

Film Row, as its name suggests, is known for its legacy in the film industry. Today, you can see remnants of its old Hollywood past, and you can even catch a movie at Paramount. If live entertainment is more your thing, you can also listen to live music at one of the venues in the district. And, of course, no matter where you go in Film Row, keep your eyes peeled for little nods to the district's glamorous past.

Art Galleries

Simply put, Film Row is a haven for art lovers. No matter what type of art you love, you'll find it in Film Row. This district is home to the IAO (Individual Artists of Oklahoma) Gallery, which features two gallery spaces and a rotation of poetry, film and live performances by local artists. If you want to get a good grasp for the art scene in Oklahoma City, you should definitely visit the IAO. And make sure to stroll the streets of Film Row afterward, because you'll likely come across some eye-catching street art along the way.

Restaurants

Artists and art lovers have to eat, right? Then it's a good thing that Film Row is home to some terrific restaurants, cafes and bars. After spending an entire afternoon absorbed in the arts, I stumbled across a charming restaurant and had one of the best meals of my entire trip. It was proof that you can find everything you need for a fun night out in Film Row.

As I strolled down the streets of Film Row, I imagined what this district looked like in the 1930s, when it was full of grand theaters and movie studios. While it's no longer a major hub for film, this neighborhood still holds onto its legacy in the film industry, which is one of the many reasons why it's such an interesting and unique neighborhood to explore.
