HotelTonight – Vancouver Waterfront Hotels Are Around

Vancouver, British Columbia is such an interesting place for so many reasons that it's nearly impossible to list even just a few. If I had to choose one, however, I guess it would be that you could travel just a few blocks and immediately realize that you're somewhere completely different from where you just left. That's a good thing, as it has always kept me interested in continuing to explore this gorgeous city every time I'm there. Unfortunately, I'm always there for work, so I'm never able to take my time and get to know a certain part of town. On my last work trip to Vancouver, however, I decided to see if I couldn't find some free time for myself to explore somewhere. As it turns out, my schedule cooperated after some meetings were canceled, so I wasted no time in deciding that I was going to explore the Waterfront area of Vancouver. I had been through it briefly in the past, but that wasn't enough for me. I wasn't concerned about lodging, either, as I was traveling with HotelTonight. I would book a Vancouver Waterfront hotel room as soon as I needed one.

The Modernity

In most of the cities in which I have spent time in my life, any sort of waterfront naturally lends itself to beach-focused types of businesses existing nearby. In the Waterfront area of Vancouver, that's not the case at all. Instead, it's as if the city just continues to run until you hit the shore, and that's just fine with the residents here. I didn't see any cheap T-shirt shops or rental places. All I saw was a lot of local businesses that residents made use of as they went about their day near the water. It was refreshing.

The Beaches

There are sandy beaches in this part of Vancouver, even though you're in the middle of an enormous city. I was surprised by that as well. Most of the beaches I saw consisted of grassy parks that bled into sandy pits that ran directly into the water. It was almost entirely a scene for locals. People ran around with their dogs, rode their bicycles, laid on blankets on the sand and generally enjoyed what was a nice, sunny day. It's as if you run into beautiful beaches in a place that isn't a beach town and isn't interested in being known as one.

The Cuisine

Since I was basically in downtown Vancouver, there was no shortage of dining options. This is a city that's known for its sushi, so when I heard about a good sushi place I made sure to remember its name. I found it and made my way there. You could tell the people already in there knew the place well, as there was a familiarity to the entire situation. I had delicious roll after delicious roll, as this is a part of the world where the seafood is renowned.
