HotelTonight – North Vancouver Hotels Are Near You

Vancouver is a city that amazes me every time I'm there. It took me several visits to simply get over the stunning scenery of pristine mountains that surround the city. I still marvel at how friendly everyone is even though most seem to know immediately that I'm a visitor. That's also surprising given that there are people from all over the world here who both live in Vancouver and call her home. I've been to Vancouver many times, but until recently I hadn't had any opportunity to explore it on a deeper level. That's because I've always been there for work, and when there for that purpose my schedule is completely packed. I decided to try to change all of that on my last journey there. I booked my return flight for 24 hours after my last meeting. I wanted to see North Vancouver in particular. I would spend a day doing what the locals do, and that would give me a small picture of what it's like to live in that community. I wasn't worried when I realized that I'd forgotten to book a North Vancouver hotel room either, as HotelTonight would take care of that for me.

The Grouse Grind

I'm an active sort, so the first thing I wanted to do was go for a nice, brisk walk. I got that and then some when I arrived at the base of Grouse Mountain, home to the locally legendary Grouse Grind. This is quite a "walk" to say the least. 2,830 wooden stairs seem to take you straight up the mountain, and the rule is that once you start you can't turn back. I was ready, but after seemingly endless walking I saw a sign that said I was 1/8 of the way there. A couple of hours later made it all worth it with panoramic views of the city.

Lynn Canyon

I had been to what seemed like the top of the world by way of the Grouse Grind (and got a T-shirt to prove it), so now I wanted to go in the other direction. I made my way to Lynn Canyon, which is home to a park and another local legend in its suspension bridge. It's an incredible view off the bridge, but it's not for the faint of heart, as you are definitely up there – 164 feet off the ground to be exact, or over 15 stories.

The Dining

I talked to people throughout the day, and one of my favorite topics was dinner. I had obviously worked up quite an appetite doing all that walking, and I heard about a Greek place more than once. Greek food is a staple there, apparently. I walked in and ordered the gyro plate, and they did it right. The lamb meat was directly off of a vertical spit, the pita was made fresh and the tzatziki sauce was delightfully flavored with fresh cucumber. It was a big meal for a big hunger.

HotelTonight – North Vancouver Hotels Near Me

After such an incredibly active day and now with a very full stomach, I was ready to crash. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a North Vancouver hotel room almost immediately. It was just up the road from where I was at the time, so I made my way there, took a lovely hot shower and fell immediately into a deep sleep.
