HotelTonight – Dickinson Hotels
During a recent trip across the Midwest to visit family, I found myself feeling tired of driving and needing a break from the road. I decided to pull off the road in the town of Dickinson to see what the town had to offer. I wouldn't have to worry about finding a place to stay, even on short notice thanks to the HotelTonight app, which left me free to enjoy my afternoon in town worry-free.
The Area
The city of Dickinson is located in western North Dakota in Stark County and is one of the fastest growing cities in the state. The city is home to Dickinson State University, which gives Dickinson an exciting college-town feel. The Heart River runs through the city, and the outdoor lovers have easy access to a number of hiking trails near the town. I'd never been to Dickinson before and was surprised that despite being a small town there was a lot of things to see and do. I could tell I was going to love my day in the city.
Things to Do
I decided to start out my day in town with a trip to the Dickinson Museum Center. I always enjoy getting a taste of the history and culture of an area and thought the museum would be a great place to do that. It was a really interesting museum that had dinosaur exhibits, old historical items and a section that detailed what life was like for the early settlers in the area. After the museum, I headed to the Patterson Lake Recreational Area. The area had walking paths, areas for picnics and more. It was great to get outside and enjoy the great weather.
The Food
One of my favorite things to do when visiting a new city is finding great spots to eat that the locals know about. So I asked some people where I should grab a bite and was directed to a little restaurant named Jack's. The restaurant specialized in classic American food and everything on the menu looked delicious. I ordered a burger and a side of fries. The food was delicious, and the service was great. I'll make sure to come back there again the next time I find myself in Dickinson.
