HotelTonight – Hotel in Czech Village Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids seems like a typical Midwestern city when you first start exploring, but once you step foot into Czech Village (also known as New Bohemia), you start to understand the city's distinct culture. There aren't many places like Czech Village in the U.S., which is why it's so treasured among Cedar Rapids locals. Since this neighborhood is arguably the most beloved area of Cedar Rapids – among both locals and visitors – I knew that I wanted to experience all that Czech Village had to offer during my trip to Cedar Rapids. So I pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone and quickly searched for last-minute hotels in Czech Village, Cedar Rapids. Within minutes, I had booked a charming hotel within walking distance of the best shops, restaurants and bars of Czech Village, and I was ready to get a taste of this unique district for myself.

Dining

Czech Village is named for Cedar Rapids' large population of Czech and Slovak immigrants, and you can find the influence of Eastern European culture everywhere in the city, but nowhere more so than in Czech Village. If you want traditional Czech food and beer, this is the district to visit. Even though Czech Village only spans a couple of blocks, it offers numerous great places to eat. Whether you want a fresh pastry or a bratwurst at the Meat Market, you can find it in Czech Village. While in Cedar Rapids, I ate almost all of my meals in Czech Village, and there wasn't one that didn't live up to my high expectations.

The Arts

Czech Village has a rich culture, and you can learn more about it at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. This district is also home to the African American Museum of Iowa and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, so if you're in the mood to explore museums while in Cedar Rapids, you'll certainly find yourself in Czech Village at some point. And, of course, there are plenty of great live entertainment options thanks to the historic Paramount Theater and the CSPS.

Shopping

You won't find generic retailers in this quaint village. Instead, Czech Village is full of mom and pop shops, where you can find handmade products and traditional Czech goods. If you're looking for a great souvenir from your time in Cedar Rapids, you'll want to duck into some of the stores in Czech Village. But make sure to carve out a bit of time for shopping – the shops are all so unique that you'll likely want to spend extra time exploring them.
