HotelTonight – Fenwick Island Hotels You'll Love

Most people don't think of Delaware as a beach vacation destination, but that's just because they don't know anything about Delaware's beach cities. Fenwick Island, for instance, is a quintessential beach town, and during the summer months it attracts countless visitors from all over Delaware and New England. This pretty beach town boasts beautiful stretches of beach, great attractions and entertainment options and a fun, laidback coastal town vibe. What more could you want from a beach destination? I had long heard about Fenwick Island from my friends who grew up in Delaware, and last summer, I finally had the chance to escape to this idyllic East Coast beach town. My trip was rather spontaneous, though, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a hotel room. Fortunately, I have the HotelTonight app on my phone, so I pulled up HotelTonight and searched for Fenwick Island hotels. Minutes later, I had a lovely hotel room waiting for me right near the beach in Fenwick Island, so I was ready to enjoy a long weekend of sunshine, surf and Delaware charm.

Beaches

Naturally, the main attraction in Fenwick Island is the beach. There are many beaches to choose from while in Fenwick Island, such as Bethany Beach and Rehoboth Beach. Without a doubt, though, the most popular beach in the area is the Fenwick Island State Park, a three-mile stretch of fine sand along the Atlantic Coast. As one of the more peaceful beaches in the area, Fenwick Island State Park was certainly my favorite spot to relax. Of course, there's plenty of opportunity to play, too, as this beach features great waves for surfing and popular spots for fishing.

The Boardwalk

Like any traditional beach town, Fenwick Island features a lively, old school wooden boardwalk. So if you're hungry and craving some traditional boardwalk fare, you're in luck. This boardwalk features all kinds of mouthwatering goodies like funnel cakes, burgers, hot dogs, fries and fruit smoothies. Whenever I wanted a break from the hot afternoon sun, I headed to the boardwalk to treat myself to an ice cream cone, and it made me feel like I was a kid on summer vacation all over again.

Northside Park

There are so many public parks and spaces in and around Fenwick Island that you'll never be searching for things to do. This city is the perfect place for anyone looking to get outdoors and get active, and for those types of visitors, Northside Park is well worth a visit. This 58-acre public park boasts sports fields and courts, a fishing lagoon, playgrounds, picnic areas and so much more. The park is hugely popular among locals, but I think it's also a great place to visit if you're a tourist. It'll give you a great sense for what daily life is like in a Delaware beach town, and just a head's up – it may make you a bit envious of the locals.

Shark's Cove Marina

I wanted to experience as much excitement and thrill as I could while in Fenwick Island, and one of the best places to do that is at Shark's Cove Marina. This bustling little marina is the place to go if you want to rent a boat or a jet ski. Whether you want to go parasailing, tubing or fishing, you'll be able to rent the appropriate equipment in Shark's Cove Marina, which is why this cove is a major hotspot during the summer months.

Bethany Beach

Bethany Beach is, in my opinion, a must-visit while in Fenwick Island. This quaint, old-fashioned beach town is home to great little restaurants, shops and entertainment options. It's also home to several hotels, and I was lucky enough to stay at one of the hotels in Bethany Beach. As one of the quieter beach communities in Delaware, it's a great spot for those looking to rest and relax by the ocean during their Fenwick Island getaway. I loved wandering the picturesque boardwalk in Bethany, and I felt right at home in this pretty little beach town. I was thrilled to call Bethany Beach my temporary home during my Fenwick Island retreat.

I was grateful I had been able to soak in the healing powers of the ocean and this pretty little beach town, even if only for three days. My friends were stunned when I told them how easy it was to book a last-minute hotel in Fenwick Island through HotelTonight.
