HotelTonight – Find Great Deals on Hotels in Shreveport-Bossier

There's no place quite like Louisiana. The food, the culture, the landscape and the people make it one of the most unique places in the country, and it's why I've been long fascinated with the state. So naturally, I was thrilled when I recently had the chance to explore several destinations in Louisiana. Initially, I was only planning on visiting New Orleans and Baton Rouge, but due to some last-minute changes in my travel plans, I was also able to visit the Shreveport-Bossier area. My time in Shreveport and Bossier City became one of the highlights of my Louisiana getaway, and I was able to find a great Shreveport-Bossier hotel through my HotelTonight app. HotelTonight always takes the pressure off of finding accommodations when I travel, so it was the perfect travel tool for my spur-of-the-moment trip to the Northern Louisiana cities Shreveport and Bossier.

The Bayou

It's not every day you get to experience life on the bayou, which is why I was so excited to explore a bayou for myself while in Louisiana. There are a number of boat tours and excursions you can take on the bayous while in Shreveport-Bossier, and you can also rent kayaks and canoes for a more self-guided experience. Once I saw how many alligators were in that water, though, I was quite happy that I chose a guided boat tour.

Casinos

Gambling is legal in Shreveport-Bossier, so I didn't want to miss the opportunity to test my luck at some of the popular casinos while I was in town. There are six riverboat casinos that sit on the Red River, such as the Horseshoe Casino, the Eldorado Resort Casino and the Boomtown Casino. These riverboat casinos are open 24 hours a day, so there's always excitement to be found in Shreveport-Bossier.

Downtown

Just like Louisiana is known for its hearty Creole and Cajun cuisines (more jambalaya and Andouille, please), it's also known for its vibrant nightlife and music scene. I definitely found that Shreveport-Bossier lived up to this hype, because downtown bars and clubs were always packed with friendly locals and rocking with live music. In just one night out on the town, I heard five different live bands play everything from jazz and rock to country and blues. Music is interwoven into Louisiana's culture, and that was just one of the many reasons I'll never forget my recent adventures in Shreveport and Bossier City.
