HotelTonight – Brookfield Hotels
Milwaukee is about as much of an old-school Rust Belt city as you could find anywhere in the United States. In recent generations, the city began to expand into suburbs as the nature of the local economy changed in a slow but steady fashion. A lot of that growth extended westward from downtown Milwaukee, and over time some of those suburbs became pretty well-known communities in their own right. I travel to Milwaukee often and always look forward to taking a day or so to experience another part of the city that I had not seen to that point. On my last trip there, I wound up with an extra 24 hours at my disposal unexpectedly. I had never really spent much time in Brookfield, so I wanted to see it for myself. I wasn't worried that I had to change hotels, as I wouldn't even need to book a room ahead of time. I travel with HotelTonight. I'd just leave my bags in my car and go get them when I took the mere seconds required to book a Brookfield hotel room later that night when I was ready to crash.
The Parks
I was used to spending a lot of time in a condensed, but beautiful urban environment whenever I had time to enjoy myself in Milwaukee. When so many different people move to one place over so many different generations, it tends to get a bit crowded over time. As I pulled into Brookfield, I could immediately tell that I was in for a different experience. There was green space everywhere it seemed, and the first thing I wanted to do on a beautiful day was get out and walk. I chose one of the many parks nearby and spent a couple of hours enjoying the sound of the wind in the trees.
The Affluence
You get a little bit of everything in Milwaukee, in that you'll find extremely high-end neighborhoods and some that are more hardscrabble. That's part of what makes this corner of the world interesting. That's really not the case in Brookfield. I drove through a few neighborhoods where the homes were nothing short of stunning, and even the 'average' neighborhoods were filled with large homes spread out over enormous tracts of land. The people live well here, and that was also obvious by looking at the modern schools.
The Dining
Given all of the people who moved to Milwaukee from different parts of the world, it'd be impossible not to find something you like for dinner. For whatever reason, I was in the mood for pizza. I asked a lady earlier in the day about a pizza place, and she said she eats there regularly. I walked in and it had all the classic looks, including the checkered table cloths and the plywood walls. It also served some of the best pizza I ever tasted. The crust was thin and crispy like a cracker and the Wisconsin cheese fell off the sides of the little square pieces.
