HotelTonight – Book Your Hotel in Bridgeport West Virginia
I'm an avid traveler, and I have visited major cities all over the world, from Shanghai to Paris. However, I recently realized that I haven't spent much time visiting some of the lesser known cities and towns in the U.S., so I decided to embark on a road trip so that I could visit some of these charming small towns. Bridgeport, West Virginia was one of the first small towns I visited. With a population of just over 8,000, Bridgeport feels like the epitome of small town America. I also discovered that Bridgeport offers a surprising amount to do and see, and I developed a soft spot in my heart for this West Virginia town. Since I needed to book a last-minute hotel in Bridgeport, I relied on HotelTonight to help me find the best deal possible. Within minutes on the HotelTonight app, I had booked a terrific hotel in the heart of Bridgeport.
Historic Roots
Bridgeport was originally settled in the 18th century by fur trappers, thus it has a deep, rich history. Americans have lived in Bridgeport for centuries, and you can still visit or walk past many historical sights, such as the Stockyards, the Waldomore Hotel and the Levi-Shinn House. There are even historical tours you can take to better get to know the town of Bridgeport, and it's easy to see that locals pride themselves on the town's history, so I made it a point to get to know as much about Bridgeport's history as possible while in town.
Shopping
Even though Bridgeport is a small town, it's one of the hottest shopping destinations in West Virginia. Home to the Meadowbrook Mall, Bridgeport attracts West Virginians from all over the area thanks to its shopping. There are also a number of great antique stores and locally owned boutiques in the town, so there is a good variety of shops all over Bridgeport.
State Parks
One of the reasons why I was so attracted to staying in Bridgeport was because of its great location. All around Bridgeport, there are state parks that offer beautiful hiking trails and gorgeous natural scenery. Some of the most notable state parks in the area include Coopers Rock, North Bend, Canaan Valley and Valley Falls, among many others. So if you want to escape the city and immerse yourself in the great outdoors, West Virginia is a great place to visit.
