HotelTonight – Book Your West Virginia Hotel in Barboursville

You likely have never heard of the small town in West Virginia named Barboursville, but I'm here to vouch for its worth as a vacation destination. I was driving through West Virginia as I made my way down south, and I stumbled upon Barboursville, which locals proudly call, "The Best Little Village in the State." I was immediately intrigued by the small town charm of Barboursville, so I decided to pull over and grab lunch. Before long, I had fallen in love with the locals, the village, and the beautiful surrounding nature, so I decided to extend my stay in Barboursville. To book my Barboursville hotel, I simply pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone, and within minutes I had booked a great last-minute hotel in the heart of this idyllic West Virginia town.

Historic District

The real charm (in my opinion) of Barboursville is its historic district. Full of old world charm and character, the Barboursville Historic District is well worth an afternoon stroll. This district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so there are a number of beautiful, historic sites to see, such as the 1835 Miller House, the First National Bank (built in 1870) and the early 20th century Brady Hardware Building. Walking the streets of the historic district feels like stepping back in time, which is what makes Barboursville so unique.

Barboursville Park

Barboursville may be a small town, but that doesn't mean there aren't any great attractions and activities to enjoy. I joined locals at the Barboursville Park for a great afternoon of hiking and picnicking. This public park offers over 750 acres of walking trails, sports courts and fields, fishing lakes and ponds, and so much more. The Barboursville Park even has a horse show ring! I tested my archery skills at the archery range, went fishing and even played a bit of volleyball with some locals. By the end of the day, I began to really understand why Barboursville locals love their town so much.

Beech Fork State Park

One of the biggest draws of Barboursville is all of the gorgeous nature that surrounds the town. If you find yourself in Barboursville, I'd recommend making the short drive to Beech Fork State Park, a 3,144-acre park that offers hiking, fishing and boating. There are over 31 miles of shoreline at Beech Fork Lake, so it's the perfect spot for a relaxing summer getaway.
