Sequim is a small city located on the Dungeness River in Washington, and it's one of the most unique cities in all of Washington because of its climate. Unlike many other cities nearby, which receive heavy rainfall each year, Sequim has earned the nickname "Sunny Sequim" for its year-round sunshine (this city receives the same amount of rain as Los Angeles). Sequim locals love that they can enjoy the boundless beauty of the Pacific Northwest without dealing with the gloom and the rain that is prevalent in the region. The Great Outdoors
Given its close proximity to the Olympic Mountains, it should come as no surprise that Sequim provides a wide array of outdoors recreation. This area of Washington is like a giant playground for outdoors enthusiasts, and I tried to spend as much time outdoors as possible during my Sequim vacation. Downtown
The core of Sequim's culture and heritage can be found downtown, where locals go to shop and dine. This quaint downtown district is full of unique locally owned stores, including art galleries, antique stores, clothing boutiques and more. I loved popping in and out of the different stores in downtown Sequim, and it's where I found many great souvenirs from my Pacific Northwest vacation. It's also one of the best spots in the city to grab a bite to eat, as there are a number of terrific restaurants located throughout downtown Sequim.
The Marina
The John Wayne Marina is a beloved area of Sequim because of its picturesque views and lovely public areas. This marina is located in the beautiful Sequim Bay, and it features a boat launch, public beach access, walking trails and picnic areas. I had the opportunity to go boating out in the bay during my time in Sequim, and I loved being able to see the beauty of Sequim from the water. The marina is named after the famous actor John Wayne, who once frequented the pristine waters of Sequim Bay on his yacht.
