HotelTonight – Book Your Hotel in Fort Stockton Texas

Taking a trip to Fort Stockton is like taking a trip back to the Wild West. This small town in Texas is proud of its heritage, and it has carefully preserved its Old West culture and aesthetic. This unique town immediately piqued my interest, and I was excited to explore more of Fort Stockton during my recent Texas road trip. Instead of passing through the town and continuing on my road trip, I decided instead to book a last-minute hotel in Fort Stockton so that I could spend more time getting to know this small Texas town. To book my Fort Stockton hotel at a moment's notice, I simply pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone. Within minutes, I had booked a lovely hotel in a central Fort Stockton location, and I was ready to get out, meet some locals, and experience the heart of Fort Stockton for myself.

The Historic District

The Historic District is the true heart of Fort Stockton. This is where you'll find all of the town's most beloved historic sites, such as the Pecos County Courthouse and the Comanche Springs Pool. Since I love history, I decided to join a self-guided tour of the district so that I could really get to know the history and heritage of Fort Stockton, and it proved to be very worth it. I really felt like I gained a deeper understanding of Fort Stockton, and I saw some beautiful old buildings along the way.

The Old West

If there's one thing that really captures the essence of Fort Stockton, it's the city's Old West heritage. Everywhere you look in Fort Stockton, you'll see remnants of the town's Western past. I loved visiting Old Western sites like the Historic Old Pecos County Jail, the Old Fort Cemetery and the Grey Mule Saloon. It almost felt like I was on the set of an old Western film because everything in this town is so authentic and well preserved.

Parks

If you want to get outdoors and explore some of the surrounding Texas countryside while you're visiting Fort Stockton, you're in luck – there's plenty of great parks in the area. I chose to visit Davis Mountain State Park, a lovely state park that offers great hiking trails and bird watching. Other parks near Fort Stockton include the Seminole Canyon State Park and the Big Bend National Park. Outdoor lovers have plenty of options when visiting Fort Stockton, and I tried my best to see as much of the surrounding countryside as possible while in town.
