HotelTonight – Medford, Oregon Hotels Just for You

There is so much to explore in the western portion of the United States that I'm convinced you could spend years there and still not come close to seeing it all. I travel by vehicle for work almost every day, and I spend a lot of time driving basically from San Diego to Seattle, and just about everywhere in-between. Over the years, I've come to recognize quite a few cities, but only by their names and because they may have convenient stopping points. One of the cities I constantly blew past on the highway was a place in southern Oregon called Medford. On a recent trip, it so happened that I encountered some car trouble just outside of this unfamiliar town. I had my car towed to a shop and got things set up there. I grabbed my backpack and suddenly realized that I had at least a day to spend in a new place. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Medford hotel room in seconds. I walked over to my room, dropped my things, changed and headed out for what turned out to be a lovely day of exploring.

The Hiking

One of the first things I wanted to do after spending so much time in the car was enjoy some fresh air. Luckily for me, there were hiking trails all over the place in and near town. I hopped on one of them without delay, as I was dressed for it. Before I knew it I was winding up hills and looking down on green valleys below that offered stunning views. I spent hours up there, taking photos, talking to other hikers and enjoying the fact that somehow, I had wound up in that place at that particular time.

The Pears

After getting off the trail, I was ready for a fresh and tasty snack. I kept seeing signs for pears that were for sale, so I decided to stop into a roadside place and give them a try. I nearly fell over when the flavor and juices burst out of the first one into which I bit. As it turns out, Medford is known for its pears, and people from all over the region travel there just to enjoy them. I bought a bunch to take with me, as I was sure I'd be ready to have more of them as my travels continued.

The Dining

After all that hiking and snacking, I was ready for a big meal. I asked around and was told about a local pizza joint that had been packing them in for years. I made my way there and was taken aback by the vaulted ceilings and artistic flair of the place. I ordered a basic pepperoni and sausage pizza, which was served in a nice, personalized pan with a spatula. The crust was extremely crunchy and the toppings were perfectly fresh and tasty. It was a great meal.

HotelTonight – Medford Hotels Are Available

Just as I was finishing my meal, I got the call that my car would be ready in the morning. I paid the restaurant bill and made the short walk to my Medford hotel room. I was, once again, happy that I had HotelTonight with me, and I was also glad to have seen one of those towns I had always driven past in an up-close and personal way.
