HotelTonight – Fergus Falls Hotels Are Available

When you work in the Midwest as a traveling salesperson, you get used to driving great distances to go from one large city to the next. There is a lot of wide-open space in this part of the world, and I really like that. Driving through farmlands and prairies, and the like, gives me time to decompress and think about where I am, where I'm going and what I need to do when I get there. Only recently did I begin to realize that maybe I was missing something by never paying attention to these small communities I drove right past countless times on the highway. I finally realized that people live in these places for a reason, and I promised myself that I'd make more of an effort to get to know some of them. On my last drive from Minneapolis towards Fargo, I found out that my forthcoming meetings had been canceled, so instead of just driving to Fargo I decided to take 24 hours to explore Fergus Falls. I wasn't worried about finding a place to stay, as I'd just use my HotelTonight app to book a Fergus Falls hotel room as soon as I needed one.

Americana

I was hooked the second I pulled into downtown Fergus Falls. If you could take a community and build a template for what Americana would personify, you'd have to go a long way to make a better choice than Fergus Falls. The tree-lined main drag was like something out of a movie. The old brick facades on the buildings brought me back to when I was a child. The familiarity among the 15,000 residents was something to behold. Finally, when walking around, the friendliness of the locals who knew immediately I wasn't from there was humbling.

The Art

One of the things about Fergus Falls that surprised me was how much of an influence the art world seems to have had on it. There were a lot of different shops and other quaint places that were selling all different types of artwork, and many of the pieces I looked at and asked about were done by local artists. I spent the afternoon walking through a bunch of these establishments, and once again I thoroughly enjoyed the conversations I had with people who live there. It's clear that they're proud of their community.

The Dining

I felt like eating local that night since I had spent a day mingling with the locals. A nice lady at one of the stores I frequented that day told me about an old tavern that had been serving great sandwiches for years. I went there, and yes, you could tell it had been there for a while, but that's a good thing. I ordered the burger and fries with a beer, sat at the bar and talked with some more people. My meal was ready in minutes, and it was all delicious.

HotelTonight – Fergus Falls Hotels at the Ready

I was full, happy and thrilled to have gotten to talk to so many nice people. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Fergus Falls hotel room in seconds. I walked to it from the tavern and fell asleep almost immediately, happy that I had gotten to explore somewhere new.
