HotelTonight – Appleton Hotels at the Ready
All over the United States, you'll find little pockets of wonderful that most people who do not live in the area do not know about until they see it for themselves. There's a place in Northeastern Wisconsin that fits that description perfectly, and it's known as the Fox Valley. It sits in the valley of the Fox River, and the biggest city – although it is relatively small – is Appleton. People who have seen Appleton understand its beauty and some of the attractions that draw people to it. I had never seen it before, but I was in Wisconsin for work and wanted to stay somewhere that was somewhat central. Appleton fits that bill. I didn't even decide to stay there until I landed in Milwaukee, which is just over an hour away. I opened my HotelTonight app and immediately found several options for Appleton hotel rooms. I booked one and made my way towards this quaint city. I had about 24 hours before I had to be anywhere else, so I decided to make use of that time by exploring Appleton from the perspective of what it's like to actually live there.
The Friendliness
There are a lot of people out there who will strongly claim that the nicest people you'll meet almost anywhere in the world live in this part of Wisconsin. I had heard that about other places, so when I was told that about Appleton and the surrounding areas I was somewhat skeptical. I was completely wrong. These really are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. When I was talking to a local lady about different things, she told me that in Appleton, people will ask you about the weather and be genuinely interested in your answer. It was wonderful talking to folks who live there.
The Overall Experience
I didn't know this until I got there, but Appleton has consistently been ranked near the top of cities in the United States in terms of livability. Several surveys done by national publications have put this city of just under 75,000 people in prominent places. You can see why when you get here: it's clean, it's safe, it's full of educational options, it's home to all sorts of different recreational pursuits and the job market is extremely strong. People who live in Appleton are proud to say that they're from Appleton.
The Food
Have you ever been to a supper club? Have you ever even heard of such a thing as a supper club? If you haven't spent time in Wisconsin, you probably haven't. It's a different way to eat to be sure. You walk in and tell the bartender what you'd like for dinner. The bartender enters your order and pours you a delicious old fashioned. Someone comes to fetch you when your order is ready, and you eat delicious food – we had the prime rib – in close proximity to other patrons. It was delicious, friendly and a great evening overall.

After dinner, we decided to head back to our Appleton hotel room that we found that day on HotelTonight. It was clean, comfortable and exactly what we had hoped, and the price was more than right. We enjoyed Appleton and look forward to coming back someday.
