HotelTonight – Bishop, California Hotels Are Available

One of the most interesting things to me about driving through California is how quickly you encounter complete changes in the landscape and the climate. One minute you're driving through snow-packed mountains and the next you're in a nearby desert, turning on your air conditioning in your vehicle. A little bit later, you find yourself on the beach looking at the Pacific Ocean. California is a wonder, and I have always loved traveling here. I was driving eastward out of the string of national forests in northern California recently when I unfortunately encountered some car trouble. Luckily, it happened near a town that had service, so I got my vehicle there to be looked at. They told me it would be 24 hours before I could hit the road, so that meant I'd have a day to get to know this place. I was in a community called Bishop, and I told myself to make the best of it while I waited. I'd get to know some people here. I wasn't concerned about lodging, as I had my HotelTonight app with me. I'd book a Bishop, California hotel room as soon as I was ready.

The Town

Bishop itself, luckily for me, is not a city that's large enough to need a vehicle to get around. Fewer than 4,000 people live here, so I set out on foot to see what there was to see. What I saw was a lot of unexpected art, particularly in the form of murals that appeared in several places downtown. All of this artwork was set in front of a background that was the Sierra Nevada, providing that extra piece of beauty to everything I looked at. The buildings themselves were quite old but they were also maintained very well.

The Park

I wanted to get myself around some greenery, and found a city park just off of the main drag. The park was gorgeous, and like the buildings there it was maintained meticulously. I walked by a pond that was filled with ducks, other than the ones that were being fed by other people there. I even pulled out my phone and discovered that there was a free wireless connection to use while I was in range. I made sure to talk to a few people who were out there, and all of them said that they would never consider living anywhere else.

The Dining

I didn't expect there to be many choices for dinner in a town so small, but I was wrong, as there were a lot of options. A lady at the park told me about a bowling alley nearby that served a great steak. I was skeptical but decided to give it a shot. I got there and yes, it was a bowling alley. I ordered the steak medium and it was absolutely delicious. I had a baked potato and some broccoli with it, and I have to admit it was a pleasant surprise overall.

HotelTonight – Bishop, California Hotels

I was full and I was feeling much better about my situation when I got a call from the mechanic that told me my car would be ready in the morning. After that conversation, I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Bishop, California hotel room in seconds. I couldn't wait to get to sleep, satisfied that I had turned a stressful situation into a positive experience.
