HotelTonight – Osoyoos Hotels
I love to travel, and one of my favorite places to explore over the years has been British Columbia, Canada. This vast and varied province offers the ultimate in modern cities in Vancouver, the ultimate in wildlife in the northern portion of the province and a lot of just about everything else. I had seen the modern and the wild, but one part of the province where I had never really spent much time was what is known by the folks there as "The Interior." That's the middle portion of British Columbia away from the Pacific coast, and one of the cities there that attracts quite a few visitors is Osoyoos. I wanted to check the place out at some point, and it wasn't too long ago that a series of circumstances gave me a 24-hour period to explore it. I wasted no time in taking advantage of the opportunity, and I set out to learn what it was like to live an everyday life there. I wasn't worried about finding lodging, either, as I always travel with my HotelTonight app. I'd be able to book an Osoyoos hotel room near me as soon as I was ready to get some sleep.
The Lake
The community of Osoyoos is basically centered on Osoyoos Lake, which is a vast body of water that is dotted with several different beaches along its coastline. The water itself is quite warm, as Osoyoos sits in a part of British Columbia that is basically a desert climate in the summertime. That means really warm air temperatures and, as a result, warm water. I spent a couple of hours on one of the beaches and watched as people boated, went waterskiing and raced around in jet skis. There were also a lot of swimmers and people generally worshiping the hot sun.
The Desert Centre
Given that Osoyoos is situated in the desert, the landscape there is unique when compared to most of the rest of British Columbia. It's so different, in fact, that I found out that the locals like to go out and explore it from time to time, particularly with their young ones. I decided to spend some time at the Desert Centre, and I toured the desert with a guide as we walked along a wooden boardwalk. I was amazed to see that desert life really does exist in Canada.
The Dining
I was a bit surprised to see so many options for dinner in a community of just over 5,000 people. A lady I spoke to told me about a restaurant that had earned an extremely loyal local following, so I decided to give that a try. Everything they served was local, so I had a salad that was enormous and full of colors and flavor. This part of the world is known for its produce in the summer. I also had a sausage platter that was spiced and seasoned in a way that I had never experienced. It was a tremendous meal.
