HotelTonight – Langley, BC Hotels
If you drive even 30 minutes in any direction away from downtown Vancouver, you'll find yourself in what seems like a totally different world. That's because Vancouver, like a lot of other enormous metropolitan areas, is like a woven tapestry of several different communities that all come together to create a relatively uniform vibe. I only know this because I finally got the opportunity to see a bit more of Vancouver and the surrounding area on my last business trip there. I'm there often, but usually my schedule is so tight that I have no chance to do anything but hustle from meeting to meeting all day long. This time, a few meetings got canceled at the last minute, and I found myself with a day to spend as I wished. I wanted to dive into one of these surrounding communities to see what life is like for those who live there. I chose to spend those 24 hours in a place called Langley. The Produce
Langley is about a 45-minute drive from the middle of Vancouver, and I got there full of excitement. I also was a bit hungry, so I went in search of a snack. I didn't have to look far. There were all sorts of little markets around, and all of them were selling some sort of fresh, local produce. It was late summer, so it was a good time of year to be there for this purpose. I ate some delicious apples and a bowl of blueberries that were unlike anything I had ever tasted. They were huge, bursting with flavor and actually filling.
The Museums
In most cities, museums are generally there for tourists. I was curious about a couple of the museums I saw in Langley, though, so I wanted to check them out. The art museum was filled with native Canadian art from eras past and there was a museum dedicated to agricultural machinery and frontier life serving as a tribute to the area's past. What I also found was that the majority of the people in these museums were locals. These were not tourist traps, as Langley is not generally thought of as a huge tourist center.
The Dining
There were a lot of different dining options in Langley, but I kept hearing about an Indian place that the locals adored. I went there and soon found out why it had earned such a following. I ordered the butter chicken, and it practically fell apart on my fork before I could even get it into my mouth. The side dishes were also exquisite, and having been to India I can say definitively that this meal was the real deal. I ate more than I should have but was thrilled with this local find.

I was full and happy with my day, and I was satisfied that I had gotten a glimpse at life in this part of the world.
