Check-in was super easy, just a half block away from the hotel entrance. Large room (for San Francisco). Great location, near BART, the cable car, Union Square and several bus lines.

There are only two major reasons to stay at the Herbert - the price and the location !!! Otherwise a very basic hotel with minimal amenities- I visit San Francisco at least every two month and always stay at the Herbert for, again the price and location

The check in process was just insane. You have to walk to another hotel to check in and out. There weren’t enough towels in the rooms. One wash cloth, and two towels to the room. The room felt like you are staying at a broke friend’s house.
