Check-in was super easy, just a half block away from the hotel entrance. Large room (for San Francisco). Great location, near BART, the cable car, Union Square and several bus lines.

There are only two major reasons to stay at the Herbert - the price and the location !!! Otherwise a very basic hotel with minimal amenities- I visit San Francisco at least every two month and always stay at the Herbert for, again the price and location

The walls are extremely thin and we could hear the person in the next room breathing and burping and his entire phone conversation. We were in room 333.
