The location and relative niceness of the vibe are the whole thing with this place. It has that classic Chicago hotel smell of light sewage, but I got used to it, and honestly that's just a lot of places in Chicago. FWIW, I've now stayed here like 5 times.

I was upgraded to a larger room which was plenty nice, albeit without a view (other than a tiny interior atrium). Front desk varied from unprofessional and bordering on rude to extremely helpful and pleasant. Cafe did not open at the appointed time, but Colombe is nearby.

When we first arrived there a cigarette odor throughout the hotel. A roach was smushed on the curtains and the inside of the shower was not throughly cleaned.
