HotelTonight – The Best Hotels in North Conway, New Hampshire

Located at the foothills of the beautiful White Mountains in New Hampshire, the town of North Conway is a haven for anyone looking to explore the great outdoors. The White Mountains are considered some of the most scenic mountains in the country, and I was lucky enough to spend days exploring them in person. After a few long months of dreary, dark winter days in a concrete jungle, I knew I had to get out and immerse myself in nature. It didn't take me long to find just the place – North Conway. Even though warmer spring weather was finally starting to arrive, there was still some snow left at the ski resorts in North Conway. This meant that I could have the best of both worlds – I could enjoy some beautiful hiking trails and some killer ski trails, all in the same weekend vacation. So to book a last-minute hotel in North Conway, New Hampshire, I pulled up my HotelTonight app. I browsed HotelTonight's selection of hotels in North Conway, and minutes later I had booked a great hotel in the heart of North Conway.

Downtown

I was glad I chose to stay at a hotel near downtown North Conway, because I loved exploring the pretty, historic streets of this village. Downtown North Conway is home to a number of beautifully restored old buildings, quaint coffee shops and bakeries, and many antique stores, boutiques and art galleries. Whenever I had a craving for something sweet (which was often), I wandered down to the Old Village Bakery and picked up some delicious baked goods. The heart of social life in North Conway can be found downtown, so it's the best place to grab a bite to eat and mingle with some locals (who are sure to have great suggestions for your White Mountain adventures).

The Scenic Railroad

The North Conway Scenic Railroad is quite famous, and it's one of the most popular attractions in the area. While I try to stay away from touristy attractions when I travel, so many locals told me I couldn't miss out on the Scenic Railroad that I eventually decided to jump on the train. This historic railway was once part of the Main Central Railroad Mountain Division, and it still passes through its historic route. I ended up being so glad that I chose to take this train ride, because it was such a unique experience you can't find elsewhere.

Black Cap Hiking Trail

There are countless hiking trails in the White Mountains, so it's hard to choose just one to highlight. However, there is one that tends to be more popular than others (and for good reason) – the Black Cap Hiking Trail is a short, fairly easy trail that winds through the Green Hills Preserve and culminates with beautiful views of North Conway, the White Mountains and the Mount Washington Valley. I could have stayed on the summit for ages, because the views were so spectacular. While I checked out a few other hiking trails during my stay in North Conway, the Black Cap trail was hands-down my favorite.

Cranmore Mountain

As I mentioned, I visited North Conway in the beginning of spring, so I was lucky that there was still some snow at the ski resorts. I ended up spending an entire day at Cranmore Mountain, one of the most popular ski resorts in the area. Cranmore boasts 57 trails for skiing, and from most of these trails you'll have sweeping views of the valley below. There are also trails and lanes for tubing, so there are still some fun activities to enjoy for non-skiers.

Kancamagus Highway

If you visit North Conway, it's hard to avoid the Kancamagus Highway, which locals refer to as the Kanc. This 32-mile highway passes through breathtaking natural scenery, and it's widely considered one of the most scenic drives in the entire country. It's open year-round, so whether you're visiting North Conway in the fall to see the autumn foliage or you're visiting in the winter to indulge in some premier skiing, you'll be able to take advantage of this incredible scenic drive.

HotelTonight – North Conway Hotels at Your Fingertips

It's not everyday that I get to escape the hustle and the bustle of the city and immerse myself in nature, so my recent trip to North Conway, New Hampshire was very special. This pretty little town is the perfect home base for anyone looking to explore the White Mountains, which offer so much to do and see that you'll never have an excuse for being bored – I certainly never was. My only regret is that I didn't have more time to spend in North Conway. Fortunately, I know I can always return, and if I do, I'll be able to find a great North Conway hotel through HotelTonight in a matter of minutes.
